In my last email I ended my Redolence's 11th birthday sale, today I want to talk about something that helps you get orders without even trying... the kind of reviews that sell for you.
Let’s talk about something every home baker dreams of Reader... ✨
Those long, detailed reviews that make people want to order from you immediately.
You know the kind:
💌 A full paragraph about how soft your cake was
💌 How the packaging made them smile
💌 How their guests couldn’t stop raving about it
The kind of review that sells for you.
Now here’s the truth from my 10+ years of selling bakes 👇
Barely 10% of people leave reviews like that.
So if you’re wondering why you’re not getting them, it’s not because your bakes aren’t good enough. It’s because:
⚡ Most people don’t know what to say
⚡ They feel conscious about their English or communication skills
⚡ They don’t feel open enough with you
⚡ They don’t feel motivated to type it out
⚡ And honestly... they don’t realise how much it means to you
Sound familiar?
The good news is, we can fix all of this. Here’s how:
💡 If they don't know what to say... ask them specific questions.
Think about how hotels do feedback forms. They do not ask "how was your stay?" They ask "how was the cleanliness? How was the breakfast? How was the check-in process?"
Do the same thing on WhatsApp after a delivery.
Something like: "How was your experience with this order? What did you like most? Is there anything I can make better next time?"
Specific questions get specific answers. EVERY time.
💡 If they feel conscious about their English... reassure them.
Just tell them directly: "Any language works! Hindi, Tamil, whatever you're comfortable in. What matters is your experience, not your grammar."
You will be genuinely surprised how many more responses you get just by saying this one thing. 💛
💡If they don't feel open enough with you yet... that's a connection issue.
And the fix is not a review strategy. It's building the relationship FIRST.
Send small freebies with orders. Write handwritten notes. {Yes, actual handwritten ones 😊} Remember their birthdays. Show more of your real life on Instagram so they feel like they actually know you.
People leave detailed reviews for people they genuinely like. Give them reasons to like you before you ask for anything.
💡If they are just not motivated enough... give them a reason.
Offer something small in return for a detailed review. A freebie with their next order. A discount. A little surprise.
You are not bribing anyone. You are just removing the last bit of friction between "I should leave a review" and actually doing it. {We ALL need a little nudge sometimes, let's be honest 😅}
💡And if they just don't realise how much it means... TELL them.
Make a post about it. A reel. A story. Show your audience exactly why reviews matter for a small home bakery, how they help real customers find you, and what it means to you personally when someone takes five minutes to write something detailed.
People genuinely WANT to help. They just need to know it matters.
And if you want to go even deeper into creating the kind of customer experience that makes people WANT to rave about you? That’s exactly what I teach inside my courses:

Because knowing isn’t enough. Transformation comes from DOING with the right support.
